Welcome from James Franklin-Smith, CEO of Oak Learning Partnership

I am proud to welcome you to our Oak Learning Partnership website. We are an established trust of schools which currently comprises a primary, secondary and special school in Bury, Greater Manchester.

Our trust is committed to improving the life chances of children and young people through the delivery of a well-rounded world class education. At Oak Learning Partnership, inclusion is at the heart of our trust. Inclusion is a constant consideration in all our schools as we strive to ensure that everyone is accepted, supported and challenged to be the best possible version of themselves. Our motivation is to help all pupils make exceptional progress at school, regardless of barriers, and we aim to make sure that nobody is left behind. We understand that lives and communities can be transformed by high quality teaching and strong support within the framework of the best, bespoke curriculum.

We have a range of educational experts who have experience of transforming school performance. As a truly cross phase trust we are proud of the work we are doing to collaborate across sectors, making the best use of the expertise which we have in a vast number of areas. We have a developing outreach provision which ensures that we have the capacity and expertise to support schools to be as highly effective as possible within special needs and wider areas.

As a group of schools, we work collaboratively on a number of projects which are utilised and developed in schools. Whilst we aim for some alignment across our family of schools, we are also keen to ensure that there is flexibility at school level to adapt and shape so that approaches are right for the context. There are certain areas which are consistent across our trust, for ease and efficiency within our schools so that they can devote their time to educating our pupils.

Alongside our culture of ‘inclusion is at the heart of our trust,’ our schools operate under a shared set of principles which explain how we work. We are Values Driven, we provide An Exceptional Education for All, we protect Identity and individuality, Our People Matter, we practice Collaboration with Purpose and we Focus on Impact. You can read more about these shared principles here.

The business and operational support provided by the central team allows leaders in schools to focus their attention on ensuring the quality of education is consistently excellent. We understand that leaders need a good mix of strong support and independence to be effective and deliver for their pupils. Our head teachers take an active part in the direction of the trust and we see each of our schools as an active partner in achieving our longer-term objectives.

We are committed to developing partnerships and growing our trust, making a difference on a wider scale whilst continuing to build on our current strengths. We will continue to have a strong moral purpose and endeavour to continue to grow and improve so as to provide the best for our community.
