Crosshill School
Crosshill School is a special school catering for 5-19 year olds, based in Blackburn and Darwen. Our curriculum focuses on truly preparing our learners and their families for life and work beyond us. We understand that it 'takes a village to raise a child', to do this we take great pride in working collaboratively with our students, their families, our local community and other professionals to successfully achieve this and provide the greatest possible springboard into preparation for adulthood for our students.

Our school motto is to prepare our students so that they can flourish, we believe we do this by explicitly teaching our students to:
- Communicate with others
- Be independent
- Know themselves and the world around them
- Have respect for themselves and others
- Be kind to themselves and others
- Show resilience
- Be functional learners
Based on the national curriculum, our curriculum is broad and balanced, with opportunities for students to develop functional skills, independence skills and skills for working life. We also develop and promote a love of reading as an integral part of our offer. In addition to the academic curriculum, individualised timetables provide opportunities for therapy led interventions, which meet the needs of the whole child. Some of these opportunities are led by therapy based medical professionals and some are led by our specialist teachers and support staff.
